What we collect and why

When you join the waitlist:

  • Email address — to send your order updates, to tell you when a shade you asked about is back in stock, to send occasional CoverIt updates about new shades and restocks, and, if we don’t ship to your country yet, to let you know when we do. Nothing else.

When you place an order:

  • Name — to address your order and communications
  • Email address — to send your order confirmation, dispatch notification, and any order updates
  • Delivery address — to ship your order
  • Shade selection — to fulfil your specific order
  • Payment information — processed securely by Stripe. CoverIt never sees or stores your card details.
  • Internal notes — we may record brief notes against your email to help us serve you (for example a delivery preference or a past issue). You can ask to see or delete these at any time.

When you use the AI shade matcher:

  • The photo you upload is processed in real time to analyse skin tone only. It is never stored, never shared, and deleted immediately after your result is returned.
  • Usage records — for each successful match we record the time, the shade suggested, your approximate location, and an anonymised code derived from your internet address (we never store the address itself, and never the photo). Approximate location means the country, region and a rough set of coordinates, all estimated from your internet connection — accurate to about city level, and never taken from your device’s GPS. If you place an order, we also record that the matcher was used in that session and which shades it suggested. We use this only to measure and improve how well the matcher works.

If you use the shade matcher from a country we don’t ship to yet:

  • Email address — we ask for your email before the matcher runs, and record it together with the country you appear to be in, so we can tell you when we launch there. You are free not to give it, in which case the matcher simply won’t run. It is not used for anything else.

When you join our ambassador (affiliate) programme:

  • Name and email address — to run your account and pay your commission. Payout bank details are collected and held by Stripe, not by us.
  • Referral activity — if a visitor arrives through an ambassador's link, we store that ambassador's code in the visitor's browser for 60 days and record it against any order they place, so the right commission is paid. We also log the click with an anonymised code derived from the visitor's internet address (never the address itself), to detect fraudulent self-referrals.

When you arrive from a link or another site:

  • How you found us — we record the campaign tags on the link you clicked (for example the source, medium and campaign name added to a link in an advert, email or social post) or, where the link carries none, the address of the site that sent you. We keep it in your browser for up to a year and attach it to any order you place, so we can tell which adverts, posts and partners actually lead to sales. It is our own record rather than a third party’s: it holds no name, email or address, it is never sold or shared, and it is never used to profile you or to target advertising at you. Clearing your browser’s site data for coveritpatches.com removes it.

What we don't do

Legal basis for processing

We process your data on the basis of contract (to fulfil your order), legitimate interest (to manage our waitlist and notify you of relevant updates, to invite you to review an order we have sent you, and to understand our sales and shade-matcher performance in aggregate — for example, which shades and areas order most, and which of our own adverts and posts lead to orders), and consent where applicable.

How long we keep your data

Order data is retained for 7 years in line with HMRC requirements. Waitlist data is kept until you ask us to remove it, or until the waitlist closes. Photos are deleted immediately after processing and are never stored.

For everything else we do not set a fixed expiry date. We keep it only for as long as it serves the purpose it was collected for, review it periodically, and delete it when it no longer does — or sooner if you ask us to:

  • Shade-matcher usage records — kept while they remain useful for measuring and improving the matcher. They hold no name, email or address.
  • Back-in-stock requests — kept until the shade returns and you have been told, and removed on request.
  • Ambassador accounts — kept while the account is open. Commission and payout records are kept for 7 years, as they are financial records. Click logs are kept while they remain useful for spotting referral fraud.
  • How you found us — the record held in your browser expires after a year, and clearing your site data removes it sooner. Once it has been attached to an order it becomes part of that order record and is kept for 7 years with it.
  • Internal notes — removed whenever you ask, and never kept beyond the order records they relate to.

You can ask us to delete any of the above at any time by emailing support@coveritpatches.com.

Who we share your data with

We do not sell your data. We share data only where necessary to fulfil your order, and to invite you to review it once it has been sent:

  • Stripe — payment processing (and, for ambassadors, commission payouts via Stripe Connect — payout bank details are held by Stripe, not us)
  • Resend — transactional email delivery (order confirmations)
  • Trustpilot — independent review platform. If you have placed an order, we may send your name and email address to Trustpilot so that it can invite you to review it. Trustpilot emails you directly, the review is yours and is published on their site, and you are free to ignore the invitation. We send them nothing else, and nothing at all if you have not ordered. See Trustpilot's privacy policy.
  • Cloudflare Turnstile — bot protection service that silently verifies you are human before processing your request. No personal data is shared beyond your IP address. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.
  • Anthropic — AI provider that processes your photo in real time for shade matching. Your photo is sent to Anthropic's servers, analysed, and not retained by them beyond what is required for abuse prevention (typically up to 30 days per their terms). CoverIt does not store your photo at any point.
  • Supabase — the database where your order, waitlist and ambassador records are stored.
  • Vercel — hosting for this website. Vercel processes the technical details of each request, including your IP address.
  • Upstash — rate limiting. Your IP address is held briefly as a counter to stop abuse of our forms and the shade matcher, and expires automatically.
  • Our shipping partner — delivery of your order

All processors are bound by their own privacy policies and data protection obligations.

Your IP address

Your IP address is processed whenever you use the site — it is how any website reaches your browser. We use it to estimate your country, and to apply rate limits that stop abuse of our forms and the shade matcher. We do not store it against your shade-matcher records or ambassador clicks; those keep only an anonymised code derived from it. Our hosting and rate-limiting providers hold it transiently, as described above. We rely on legitimate interest (security and fraud prevention) for this.

International transfers

Anthropic is based in the United States. When you use the AI shade matcher, your photo is transferred to the US for processing. This transfer is carried out under appropriate safeguards in accordance with UK GDPR Article 46. All other data processing takes place within the UK or EEA.

Third-party services

This site loads fonts from Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com). This causes your browser to make a request to Google's servers, which may log your IP address. No personal data is shared with Google beyond what is inherent in that request.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to:

  • Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
  • Rectification — ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data
  • Erasure — ask us to delete your personal data
  • Restriction — ask us to limit how we use your data
  • Portability — request your data in a structured, machine-readable format
  • Object — object to processing based on legitimate interests
  • Withdraw consent — where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw it at any time

Cookies

This site uses essential cookies required for the site to function. We also use Google Analytics (GA4) to understand how visitors use our site — this is only activated if you accept cookies via the banner shown on your first visit. You can withdraw consent at any time by clearing your browser cookies. We may also use advertising and retargeting cookies — set by Google — to measure which adverts lead to orders and to show CoverIt adverts to people who have visited before. These are only ever set if you accept cookies, and never if you decline.

Separately from cookies, the site keeps a small amount of information in your browser’s own storage so it can work and so we can measure our own marketing: the contents of your basket, how you found us (see above), and, if you arrived through an ambassador’s link, that ambassador’s code. None of it is shared with anyone else or used to target advertising at you, and clearing your browser’s site data for coveritpatches.com removes all of it.

AI Shade Matching

The shade suggestion provided by our AI tool is an estimate based on the photo you submit. Lighting conditions, camera quality, screen calibration and image resolution all affect accuracy. CoverIt does not guarantee a perfect colour match and is not liable for shade mismatch. If you are unsure we recommend ordering the shade closest to your skin tone and patch testing before full use. The AI tool processes your photo to determine skin tone only. Photos are not stored or used for any other purpose.

Products

CoverIt patches are cosmetic products, not medical treatments or medical devices. They are intended for discreet skin coverage only and are not intended to treat, cure or prevent any skin condition or disease. Always patch test before use. Discontinue use if irritation occurs. Not suitable for use on broken or infected skin. Keep out of reach of children. If you have a known skin condition or sensitivity please consult a doctor before use.

Orders and Dispatch

Payment is taken at the time of ordering. UK orders are in stock and are dispatched the next working day. UK delivery is £2.99, free on orders over £30. Orders shipping to countries outside the UK (currently Ireland and Malta) are pre-orders for our launch in that region: they will dispatch when CoverIt launches there, and we will email you your dispatch date once it is confirmed. We will notify you by email when your order has been dispatched. If for any reason we are unable to fulfil your order you will receive a full refund within 14 days.

Orders and Payment

Placing an order constitutes an offer to purchase. We reserve the right to cancel any order for any reason including stock errors or suspected fraud. In the event of cancellation you will receive a full refund. Payment is processed securely by Stripe. CoverIt does not store card details.

Cancellations

If your order has not yet been dispatched you may cancel it at any time for a full refund — this includes pre-orders for Ireland and Malta at any time before they dispatch. To cancel contact us at support@coveritpatches.com with your order details. Once an order has been dispatched it falls under our Returns and Refunds policy below.

Returns and Refunds

Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 you have the right to cancel your order within 14 days of receiving your goods without giving a reason. To exercise this right contact us at support@coveritpatches.com within 14 days of delivery. You may use the model cancellation form below, but it is not obligatory — a clear email telling us you wish to cancel is enough. For hygiene reasons, returned items must be unused and in their original sealed packaging. We are unable to accept returns where the packet has been opened. Return postage costs are your responsibility unless the item is faulty or incorrectly sent. Refunds will be processed within 14 days of receiving the returned item. Faulty or damaged items will be replaced or refunded in full including postage. Shade matching is an estimate, so if the shade is not right for you, you may return the pack within 14 days provided it is still sealed — but once a pack has been opened we are unable to accept it back.

Waitlist

Joining the waitlist is not a purchase and does not guarantee availability or pricing. Waitlist members receive occasional updates about new shades and restocks; if we do not yet ship to your country, we will let you know when we do. You may unsubscribe at any time.

Stock Availability

We make every effort to maintain accurate stock information. In the rare event that a shade becomes unavailable after your order is placed we will contact you to offer an alternative, a full refund or a backorder. We are not liable for delays caused by circumstances outside our control.

Intellectual Property

The CoverIt name, logo, packaging designs, shade names, AI shade matching technology and all website content are the intellectual property of CoverIt Patches Ltd. You may not copy, reproduce, distribute or use any of these without prior written permission.

Data and Privacy

We collect your name, email address, delivery address and shade selection when you place an order. We collect your email address when you join the waitlist. This information is used only to fulfil your order or notify you of your waitlist status. We do not sell or share your personal data with third parties except where required to process your order (for example payment processing via Stripe and delivery via our shipping partner). Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law CoverIt's liability in connection with any order is limited to the value of that order. We are not liable for any indirect or consequential losses.

Age

This site is intended for users aged 16 and over.

Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
